Dhanbad: In a significant operation, Dhanbad police have confiscated Rs 5.67 lakh from three vehicles at the Jharkhand-Bengal check post, located approximately 45 kilometers from the district headquarters, under the jurisdiction of Maithon police station.
The operation was conducted under the directives of Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Madhvi Mishra and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) HP Janardhan, who visited the check post to oversee vehicle inspections in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections.
According to Rajnish Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Maithon police station, Rs 2.25 lakh was seized from a pickup van, while another Rs 2.92 lakh was recovered from a car at the interstate check post.
Additionally, Rs 50,000 was taken from the vehicle of contractor Akash Kumar Singh, who was traveling from Asansol to Dhanbad.
The police are continuing their efforts to monitor and regulate vehicle movements as part of election security measures.
