Four CCL Opencast Mines Get 5-Star Rating for Sustainable Mining Practices

Ranchi: Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) celebrated a significant achievement as four of its open-cast mines—Magadh, Amrapali, North Urimari, and Ashoka—received the prestigious 5-Star Rating at the “Star Rating Awards for Coal & Lignite Mines” ceremony.

The awards were presented by G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of Coal & Mines, and Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Coal & Mines, in the presence of key dignitaries including Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary of Coal, and. Vismita Tej, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal.

Other notable attendees included PM Prasad, Chairman of Coal India Limited, and Nilendu Kumar Singh, CCL’s CMD.

The 5-Star Rating recognizes the outstanding sustainable mining practices of these mines, highlighting their compliance with environmental standards and their contributions to social and economic development. This accolade reflects CCL’s dedication to responsible mining and its commitment to prioritizing environmental protection and community welfare.

During the ceremony, Minister G. Kishan Reddy commended CCL’s efforts and stressed the importance of sustainable mining practices for the nation’s energy security. Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, underlined the need for innovation and best practices in coal mining to reduce environmental impact while enhancing efficiency.

CCL CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh expressed his pride in receiving the award and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to operational excellence, along with adherence to the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility.
