Jharkhand HC Dismisses PIL Against Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana

Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that sought to halt the state government’s Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana, a welfare scheme aimed at providing financial support to mothers. The court, led by Chief Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, declined to impose a stay on the initiative.

The PIL was filed by Vishnu Sahu, a resident of Simdega, who argued through his lawyer Rajeev Kumar that the scheme was launched with the intention of influencing voters ahead of the upcoming elections. The petition claimed that the timing of the scheme’s rollout was politically motivated.

During the hearing, the state government was represented by Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan and Advocate Piyush Chitresh, who defended the scheme’s objectives and its benefits to the public.

The court’s decision allows the Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana to continue without interruption, dismissing the allegations raised in the PIL.
