Gaya: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, pledged on Thursday that Bihar’s roads would be upgraded to match the quality of those in the United States within the next four years. He made this statement during his visit to Bodh Gaya, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation for several infrastructure projects aimed at boosting the state’s economic and social development.
Gadkari’s first event was the 22nd session of the National Economic Council at the Mahabodhi Convention Center, organized by Magadh University. During his address, he emphasized the need for improved road connectivity to enhance Bihar’s economic conditions.
“We will make Bihar’s national highways like America’s in the next four years. There’s no shortage of funds, only a shortage of honest officers and leaders. We do what we say,” Gadkari stated, reaffirming his commitment to development.
After the session, Gadkari inaugurated a program organized by NHAI at Magadh University, where he lit the ceremonial lamp. He announced that six major National Highway projects worth Rs 3,700 crore would be undertaken in Bihar, marking a significant step towards the state’s road infrastructure overhaul. He also highlighted that by the end of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term, projects worth Rs 5 lakh crore would be completed in Bihar, transforming the state’s landscape.
Among the key announcements, Gadkari approved a Rs 5,100 crore project to build a 90-km four-lane road connecting Mokama to Munger, which will link the religious site Ashok Dham. Additionally, an 11-km four-lane bridge and 19 km of approach roads will be built over the Gandak River near Bitiya in West Champaran at a cost of Rs 2,500 crore.
These projects are expected to greatly enhance the state’s infrastructure, improve connectivity, and stimulate economic growth.
