CCL Launches E-Rickshaw Initiative to Empower Women

Ranchi: Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has launched a unique initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program aimed at empowering women and improving healthcare accessibility. In a ceremony held on the occasion of NCDC Foundation Day, CCL distributed 10 e-auto rickshaws to underprivileged women in the presence of CCL CMD Shri Nilendu Kumar Singh and other dignitaries.

The e-rickshaws are intended to provide transport services for tuberculosis (TB) and other patients within and around hospital premises. This initiative also offers a sustainable livelihood for economically disadvantaged women. As part of the project, 10 women were trained to drive the e-rickshaws and will be monitored under the guidance of Ramakrishna Mission. These battery-operated vehicles are environmentally friendly, with low maintenance costs, and will enable women to earn an income of approximately ₹500 per day, improving their financial stability.

In addition to transporting patients, the e-rickshaws will offer affordable transport options for people travelling from nearby villages to the hospital and other key areas. The initiative was well-received by the local women, who expressed their gratitude to CCL and Ramakrishna Mission, calling it a “life-changing” opportunity.

Speaking at the event, CCL CMD Shri Nilendu Kumar Singh emphasized that the project is a significant step towards improving healthcare access and promoting women’s empowerment. The collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission will help make transport services more accessible and convenient for TB and other patients, while also providing economic upliftment to local women.
