International Conference on Advances in Materials and Chemical Sciences (AMCS-24) Kicks Off at BIT Mesra

Ranchi: The Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra hosted the inaugural session of the first International Conference on Advances in Materials and Chemical Sciences (AMCS-24) on Wednesday.

Organized in collaboration with the Materials Research Society of India, the global conference brings together leading researchers, innovators, and industry experts to discuss the latest developments in the fields of materials and chemical sciences.

Dr. Sumit Mishra, Head of the Chemistry Department at BIT Mesra and Convener of AMCS-24, officially opened the conference, encouraging participants to actively engage and collaborate. “The exchange of knowledge and ideas is vital in addressing current challenges and shaping a sustainable future,” Dr. Mishra said during his opening remarks.

Professor Indranil Manna, Vice Chancellor of BIT Mesra, highlighted the institute’s commitment to fostering innovation and research. “AMCS-24 provides a unique platform for global researchers and innovators to come together and contribute to solving some of the most pressing challenges in science and technology,” he stated.

The Chief Guest of the event, Prof. Susanta Banerjee, Institute Chair Professor at IIT Kharagpur, underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in scientific progress. “Scientific innovation thrives at the intersection of disciplines. Collaboration is essential to tackle complex global issues such as energy sustainability and the development of advanced healthcare materials,” he emphasized.

The conference features an impressive roster of speakers from around the world, including the UK, Germany, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, Hong Kong, and Bangladesh. Topics covered at the event include Advanced Polymers, Advanced Glass and Ceramics, Energy and Functional Materials, Emerging and Hybrid Materials, and Materials in Interdisciplinary Domains.

Under the leadership of Dr. Ashoke Sharon, Dean of Faculty Affairs at BIT Mesra, the event will feature over 50 technical presentations and discussions. The conference also includes a competition for Best Poster and Oral Presentations, with awards sponsored by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and cash prizes.

AMCS-24 marks a significant milestone in BIT Mesra’s ongoing efforts to advance interdisciplinary research and foster collaboration between academia and industry. The conference promises to be a vital platform for scientific dialogue and innovation in the years to come.
