Opposition Protests in Parliament Over Amit Shah’s Remarks on Dr. Ambedkar

New Delhi: Opposition parties staged a protest in the Parliament House Complex today in response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar during his speech in the Rajya Sabha on Monday. Members from Congress, DMK, Left, RJD, AAP, and other parties took part in the demonstration, which was attended by senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, DMK MP T.R. Balu, and RJD’s Manoj Jha.

The protest was sparked by Shah’s remarks, which were perceived by the opposition as controversial. In response, Union Minister Giriraj Singh defended Shah, accusing the Congress party of insulting Dr. Ambedkar. Speaking to the media outside Parliament, Singh claimed that Dr. Ambedkar had been forced to resign from the Union Cabinet by then-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized the opposition for allegedly distorting Shah’s comments. Rijiju stated that a small clip from Shah’s Rajya Sabha speech was being circulated, which misrepresented his words. The Minister also condemned the opposition for disrupting parliamentary proceedings over the issue, reiterating that it was the Congress that had insulted Dr. Ambedkar.

The controversy surrounding the remarks has sparked heated exchanges in both Houses of Parliament, with the opposition continuing to raise the issue as part of their protest.
