DPS Bokaro Celebrates 35th Annual Sports Day ‘Samagam’ with Enthusiasm

* Jhelum House Wins Overall Championship

Bokaro: DPS Bokaro hosted its 35th Annual Sports Day, ‘Samagam,’ with great enthusiasm, showcasing the school’s commitment to both athletic excellence and holistic development. The event, themed ‘Echo of Excellence,’ celebrated sportsmanship and cultural expression, uniting students, faculty, and dignitaries in a vibrant display of talent and team spirit.

Dr. Michaelraj S., Inspector General of Police, Chotanagpur Zone, Bokaro, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Michaelraj praised the school for fostering well-rounded individuals, emphasizing the importance of sports in developing physical coordination and resilience. “Sports are essential for mental and physical growth and play a vital role in the holistic development of every child,” he remarked, urging students to focus on hard work, consistency, and a positive attitude to overcome life’s challenges.

The event also featured the Principals of several prestigious schools in the city, who were present under the umbrella of Dr. Radhakrishnan Sahodaya School Complex, adding to the occasion’s prestige.

The day was filled with thrilling events, including the March Past and the Baton Relay, which highlighted teamwork and discipline. Performances such as Karate displays, Zumba routines, and an electrifying Drill performance captivated the audience, with a dramatic dance on ‘Shiv Tandav’ offering a blend of rhythm, energy, and spirituality.

The Inter-House sports competitions saw intense participation in various track and field events, with Jhelum House emerging as the Overall Champion with 1088 points. Ganga House followed closely in second place with 1081 points, while Chenab House secured third place with 1074 points. The victories were met with cheers from the excited crowd.

Dr. A.S. Gangwar, Principal of DPS Bokaro, congratulated the school community for their outstanding performances in athletics and cultural activities. He highlighted how sports foster not only physical fitness but also unity and team spirit among students.

The day’s events included races, relay events, long jump, high jump, discus throw, and more. Students from Deepansh Shiksha Kendra, a school run by DPS Bokaro for marginalized communities, also participated in various sports activities. Medals and certificates were awarded to the winners, recognizing their athletic achievements.

Teachers and non-teaching staff members also took part in fun activities such as races, balance races, and a musical chair contest, adding a lighthearted touch to the celebrations. The day concluded with the National Anthem, marking a fitting end to a day of athleticism, teamwork, and cultural celebration at DPS Bokaro.
