Lucknow: On the first day of the new year, miscreants attempted to disrupt the atmosphere in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, by writing “786” and “Allah” on the wall of a Durga temple located in a densely populated area of the city. This act sparked outrage among local residents and members of Hindu organizations. Police quickly arrived at the temple and erased the writings on the wall. However, an investigation is underway to identify those responsible for this attempt to create tension.

The temple priest stated that some mischievous elements had written “786” and “Allah” in Urdu on the wall of the Durga temple, which deeply hurt the sentiments of the people who saw it. Members of Hindu organizations immediately reached the site and registered their protest with the police. For now, the words written on the wall have been erased.

The incident occurred in Bareilly’s Bihari Pur area under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station. It is near the historic Ala Hazrat Dargah, and the temple involved is an ancient one. The writings were reportedly made late at night. When locals noticed the writings on the temple wall, the news spread like wildfire. Members of Hindu organizations rushed to the spot, and the police were also called in.

Given the sensitivity of the situation, Circle Officer Pankaj Srivastava also arrived at the scene and ensured that the writings on the temple wall were immediately painted over. However, as there were no CCTV cameras installed outside the temple, the perpetrators have not yet been identified. Nevertheless, the police are reviewing footage from CCTV cameras installed in nearby buildings to track down the culprits.
