Dhanbad: IIT-ISM Dhanbad hosted a virtual workshop titled “Women Writers and Thinkers in the Modern Critical Tradition” from February 10-14, under the GIAN Program by the Ministry of Education.
Coordinated by Professor Rajni Singh from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the workshop brought together renowned scholars to discuss feminism, translational thought, and critical methodologies.
Distinguished speakers included Professor Mena Mitrano (Ca’ Foscari University, Venice), Professor Rashmi Gaur (IIT Roorkee), and Professor Rajni Singh.
Professor Singh’s lecture on Gertrude Stein highlighted her impact on modernist literature and feminist thought, emphasizing the role of Dalit women writers and Dalit feminist epistemology in shaping critical discourse.
The workshop also featured interactive sessions, where participants engaged in discussions and explored themes like intersectional oppression, power structures, and knowledge production.
With over 150 participants, the event aimed to deepen understanding of critical thought across disciplines, reinforcing IIT (ISM)’s commitment to advancing humanities and critical theory in Indian higher education.
