Sindri: Professor Sanjay Kumar Shukla, a distinguished expert in civil and geotechnical engineering, has made significant contributions to the field. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from BIT Sindri and an MTech and PhD from IIT Kanpur. Professor Shukla is also the founding Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Geosynthetics and Ground Engineering, published by Springer, Switzerland.
His groundbreaking research, including the seismic active thrust and passive resistance formulas (2013, 2015) and the innovative wraparound reinforcement technique for foundation soils, is widely used in engineering education globally.
Recently, Professor Shukla was invited as an international speaker at the Bharat Tex 2025 Conference, organized by the National JUTE Board, Ministry of Textiles, and the Government of India in New Delhi. During the conference, he presented his book, Geotechnical Characteristics of Soils and Rocks of India, to Shri Giriraj Singh Ji, the Hon’ble Minister of Textiles. The book is a pioneering work, the first of its kind for any country, and has been highly appreciated by Minister Singh.
Professor Shukla received congratulations from several distinguished academicians, including Professor D.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor of JUT Ranchi, and Professor Pankaj Rai, Director of BIT Sindri.
