Maha Kumbh 2025 Concludes with Record-Breaking Over 66 Crore Devotees Attending Sacred Event

Prayagraj: The world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, has officially concluded today, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. Pilgrims from all corners of the country have been arriving since early this morning to take a holy dip at Sangam and other ghats, marking the culmination of this monumental event.

The six-week-long Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13, has set a new record, attracting over 66 crore 21 lakh devotees, surpassing previous attendance figures and solidifying its place as the largest human gathering in the world. This year’s Kumbh Mela holds extra significance, as a rare celestial alignment occurs, a phenomenon that takes place only once every 144 years, adding to the event’s spiritual grandeur.

In response to the massive influx of visitors, local authorities have made extensive preparations to ensure the event remains safe, secure, and memorable. The city’s railway stations, roads, and key entry points are experiencing a continuous flow of pilgrims. Special traffic regulations are in place at major locations to ensure smooth movement, while visitors are urged to keep moving after taking their holy dip to prevent congestion.

Security has been a top priority, with teams from the NDRF, SDRF, Home Guards, and local police maintaining a vigilant presence across the ghats and fairground. An aerial team is also overseeing the area, ensuring all safety protocols are followed. To keep devotees informed and prevent the spread of misinformation, radio programs and announcements are being broadcast over loudspeakers throughout the event.

Additionally, in light of Mahashivratri, a fleet of 4,500 buses is operating, with buses available every 10 minutes to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic. Shuttle buses, numbering 750, have also been deployed to ensure smooth transportation for the millions of attendees.

The successful conclusion of Maha Kumbh 2025 marks another chapter in the event’s rich history, drawing devotees from all walks of life to celebrate spirituality and unity on a global scale.
