XLRI Jamshedpur Hosts First-Ever AI Conclave “Manakriti”

Jamshedpur: XLRI Jamshedpur hosted its first-ever AI Conclave, Manakriti: AI & Business – Transforming Strategy, Innovation and Leadership. The event, organized by the PGDM (GM) AI Nexus Club, brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and AI experts to discuss how AI is transforming business strategy, innovation, and leadership.

The conclave was officially opened by Dr. (Fr.) S. George, S.J., Director of XLRI, and Dr. Sanjay K. Patro, Dean (Academics) at XLRI. In his keynote speech, Fr. George focused on the ethical aspects of AI and its importance in responsible leadership. Prof. Patro also spoke about the need for business leaders to adapt to the changing AI-driven world.

The first panel discussion was titled AI & The Future of Work – Redefining Jobs & Skills. Moderated by Dr. (Fr.) Kuruvilla Joseph Pandikattu, S.J., the session explored the impact of AI on workforce transformation and the evolving job market. Speakers like Srivatsa Subbanna from Axis Bank and Mamta Aggarwal Rajnayak from American Express talked about how AI can improve customer experiences and the importance of emotional and ethical considerations in AI-driven workplaces. Other speakers like Debayan Nag from PwC and Sameer Sagar Mishra from Tata Steel discussed the need for human-AI collaboration and how AI is optimizing business processes like manufacturing and energy management.

The second panel, moderated by Rahul Ratnam, a PGDM-GM student at XLRI, focused on how AI is transforming business operations. Experts like Sankarsan Mukherjee from PwC and Anne Grace from Verizon emphasized that AI adoption should be driven by specific business needs. Amar Kumar from Microsoft India encouraged leaders to focus on continuous learning in AI, while Dr. Amit Sachan from Jio discussed how AI is used to personalize user experiences. Rohit Punnoose from Target India talked about how AI-based pricing strategies are benefiting both customers and businesses.

The conclave concluded with a vote of thanks from the AI Nexus Club, recognizing the contributions of faculty, industry speakers, and student organizers. XLRI’s commitment to fostering meaningful conversations on AI’s role in business and leadership was clearly demonstrated throughout the event. The event also highlighted the importance of ethical considerations and ongoing professional development in an AI-driven world.
