Fire Breaks Out in Coach at Gomo Sikline Railway Yard, Prompt Action Prevents Major Damage

Gomo: A coach parked in the Gomo Sikline railway yard caught fire early Sunday morning, causing panic among railway workers. The fire brigade quickly arrived on the scene, and other railway staff joined in to control the blaze. Fortunately, the fire was contained before it could spread to nearby coaches.

According to Chief Railway Yard official Satyanarayan Jha, the fire began around 4 AM. The affected coach was surrounded by racks of other coaches, but timely action by railway workers, including detaching the burning coach and clearing the area, prevented further damage. The coach was completely destroyed, but no other coaches were harmed.

Upon extinguishing the fire, investigators found a liquor bottle inside the coach, leading to speculation that the fire was caused by antisocial elements lighting a cigarette after drinking. A short circuit is also being considered as a possible cause, as the coach contained a battery. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, and property damage is still being assessed.

Senior DCM Amresh Kumar confirmed the discovery of the liquor bottle and broken coach door, suggesting antisocial elements may have been involved. The coach had been parked in the yard since November 2024.
