Kullu: A devastating landslide in Kullu on Sunday claimed the lives of at least six individuals, including three women, and left several others injured.
The tragedy struck around 5 PM near a gurdwara when a tree, uprooted by a storm, along with debris, came crashing down on people sitting near the edge of the road, according to an eyewitness.
The tree, located on a mountain opposite the gurdwara, fell onto vehicles parked along the road, causing the fatalities and injuries. Among the deceased were reportedly tourists. Three others sustained injuries and were promptly rushed to Jari Hospital for medical treatment.
Kullu’s Additional District Magistrate, Ashwani Kumar, confirmed the death toll and assured that a rescue operation was underway. The district administration is working to clear the debris and assist those affected.
Himachal Pradesh’s Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur, expressed his condolences for the tragic loss of life. Kullu, a popular tourist destination, has been deeply impacted by the incident.
