Ranchi: With the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) gearing up for its upcoming convention, BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo launched a sharp critique of the ruling party, urging it to pass a resolution reaffirming its commitment to the promises outlined in its 2024 election manifesto, Adhikar Patra.
Addressing the media, Shahdeo accused the JMM of backtracking on key welfare schemes and employment pledges. He pointed to the unfulfilled rollout of the Maiya Samman Yojana, the stalled promise of providing gas cylinders at ₹450, and the ambitious commitment to generate 10 lakh government jobs within five years. He further alleged that the number of beneficiaries under the Maiya Samman scheme had been unjustifiably slashed, demanding that all genuine recipients be included, barring fraudulent claimants.
Shahdeo also flagged the lack of progress on initiatives supporting women’s self-employment and interest-free agricultural loans—issues he said continue to resonate with voters who recall similar unfulfilled promises from the party’s 2019 manifesto.
Raising concerns over demographic shifts in Jharkhand’s border districts, Shahdeo claimed there has been a steep decline in the tribal population alongside a sharp increase in the Muslim population, allegedly due to unchecked infiltration from Bangladesh. He called on the JMM to take a decisive stance on expelling illegal immigrants, arguing that tribal communities are bearing the brunt of this demographic pressure.
The BJP leader’s remarks signal a ramping up of political pressure on the JMM ahead of its convention, with the opposition aiming to hold the ruling party accountable for what it calls “promises made, but not kept.”
